  1. 10 mins, charcoal and rubber, crumpled duvet – charcoal then rubber, then charcoal, then rubber, building up and taking away – does give a sense of texture and decent sense of space through line and tone – Alison Watt
  2. 5 mins, masking tape – this was intended as prep for a rubbing on the next page but was more successful itself as a drawing – the masking tape obviously lends itself to the crumpling of the duvet – though I still wasn’t entirely happy with it at this point – think I need to try that 3-4 hour drawing exercise Jennie mentioned, I’ve lost a bit of focus.
  3. Became happier with it after I made change of applying charcoal to the masking tape – not only does it add definition to crumpled tape by bring out the lines and shadows, it made an interesting print onto the page opposite.
  4. This one came from the original intention to get a texture rubbing of the masking tape on the previous page but didn’t turn out how I planned so I started working the rubber into it. Looks okay from a distance.
