Used the Instagram collage setting where you can combine 6 photos in varying arrangements. Made multiple collages and combined them to form collages of 6 collages, and this could keep going and going: 6x6x6x6x6x…… Exponential collage
For a while I had been looking for a quick way to present multiple images and this certainly offers it – it quite effectively evokes information overload. One issue though is the loss of resolution when blowing up the scale – can ask tutor’s, LA’s, AIR how to avoid this – or look up online. If I want to see all the images in the collage then I need to use the even grid layout offered on insta.
It’s a mixture of photographs, screenshots of articles, headlines, t.v. screens, images downloaded from conversations and project ideas. I have included images since the beginning of December and you can see event markers (Christmas decorations, fireworks, exhibition openings). So in this sense is it an representation of life experience through image. I took inspiration from Gerhardt Richter’s Atlas – his decades-spanning photography series.
