Redaction
Began some experiments with the intention of incorporating notes and recordings from my time protesting in London but quickly became preoccupied with the “I am a printer” idea which came from blackening in the graph paper.
I initially involved the black graph paper because I thought it evoked digital connection – internet, matrix type ideas.
Miscommunication became an important concept with the mistranslation of human speech to text on my phone, while recording as an act itself introduced concerns of surveillance, legality and ethics. Redaction of small and large segments of the text was one way of exploring these concerns through collage but I didn’t go beyond that starting point. Will go back.
